I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend! Mine was busy but fantastic. For this year’s Thanksgiving, I was in charge of the turkey, stuffing, dip, and desserts, which included a pumpkin cheesecake, two pecan pies, and two apple pies! Luckily, I only worked a half day the day before Thanksgiving–I rushed home to bake all the desserts before the night ended. Unfortunately, because I was in such a rush, I did not take as many pictures as I normally would.
After making Paula Deen’s Bourbon Pecan Pie a few years ago, I never bothered trying out a new pecan pie recipe! Since then, I have been making the same pie every year for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients:
1 (9-inch) pie crust, unbaked
2 cups pecan halves
1 cup granulated sugar
3 Tbs unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup dark corn syrup
3 large eggs, beaten
1 – 11/2 Tbs bourbon
Prepare the pie crust: Decorate the pie crust edges. Spread the pecan halves along the bottom of the pie crust.
Prepare the filling: Mix together the sugar, melted butter, dark corn syrup, eggs, and bourbon. Pour the filling evenly over the bed of pecans in the pie crust.
Bake the pie: Bake the pie at 375°F for 10 minutes. Lower the temperature to 350°F and bake for another 40 minutes, or until the pie is set. Allow the pie to cool before slicing.
Although I love all kinds of desserts, I consider pecan pie to be my favorite pie. I’ve had several pecan pies from various stores and bakeries, and this version is still my favorite to this day!
Ada! This is an absolutely gorgeous recipe, can’t wait ti try it out! Missed you x
Thank you, Dimple! I’m happy about finally posting up a recipe haha 😀
It all looks delicious, but your pecan pie looks particularly gorgeous!
Thank you so much, Sharon! The pecan pie really was delicious 🙂
what the wha’–did you say that you made turkey, stuffing, dip, and desserts (as in FIVE, four of which were pies) in a half-day off from work plus the evening? Hoo boy. I can’t compete around here 😉 Seriously, though it all looks lovely and only confirms what I suspected about you being amazing in the kitchen!
Am assuming you have a workable kitchen at this point. D@mn that bourbon pie looks good 😀 I see what you mean about not needing to try any other pecan pie recipe now.
Haha thank you, Liz! I made the desserts on my half-day off, then the turkey, stuffing, and dip on Thanksgiving day. I sure was busy, especially when making all the different desserts!
Yes, I have a workable kitchen now 🙂 I won’t have time to work on any new recipes yet, but I will definitely cook and bake a lot over the next few weeks! My family and relatives are visiting soon (will most likely use my slow cooker), and I need to crank out over 600 macarons for my brother’s wedding (hope I don’t fail)!
Ahhh! It seems that you had a very rich Thanksgiving!
Haha yes, I did! Thanks for stopping by 😀
How beautiful! Yum! 😀
Thank you! It certainly was delicious, and I love how easy it was to make 🙂
Dear Ada,
What a wonderful, fabulous food-filled Thanksgiving you shared with your family and friends. You were clearly baking up a storm of complete, delectable goodness.
Your bourbon pecan pie looks perfect – out of a magazine. What great flavors – it is hard to argue with bourbon in a dessert. When I was an undergraduate at UT-Austin, my friend Alan made a very similar bourbon pecan pie. He put a layer of chocolate chips underneath the filling – it was positively sinful. Your scrumptious pie brings back great memories of college.
Take good care,
Shanna xx
Thank you for the kind words, Shanna! Adding a layer of chocolate chips under the filling sounds amazing–will have to try this next time 😀
Oh, Gosh, Ada – Your pie was so decadent… add chocolate at your own risk. Well done! I am hungry looking at your recipe and photos, for certain. Best regards, Shanna xx P.S. Mazel Tov on your engagement, my friend!
Haha I’m surprised that you of all people would consider adding chocolate as a risk 😛 The pecan pie is excellent as is, but I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to experiment with chocolate! Thanks for always taking the time to stop by my blog, Shanna!
P.S. Thank you! Still trying to get used to wearing the ring..I’m so afraid I’ll lose it!
Hi, Ada,
You are right “excellent as is” – that is your pie, for sure. Yes, keep that ring on. I lost my first engagement ring. My new ring – I have had it a few years. It worked out because it is a little bit of an “upgrade.” That being said – I have not taken it off once (I am serious!). I can’t lose this one – Abba would definitely not get me a third! HA. Congrats again! Keep your ring on – and get it insured, too, if you can.
Take good care,
Shanna
Sorry to hear about your first engagement ring! I definitely plan on getting it insured, then I won’t be as paranoid about losing it. Thanks for the advice, Shanna!
The pecan pie must have been the star of the show. I love pecans.
Thanks Denise! I love pecans too 😀
Seems like you had a very busy Thanksgiving!
This recipe looks delicious!
I sure did! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving 🙂
Yummy! Full gear for Thanksgiving? Pie marathon! Come over and bake me Thanksgiving food! :p I have yet to make pecan pie. I’ll have to try making yours and Shanna’s bourbon pecan pie sometime.
Haha when’s the next time we’ll see each other?? Do try making the bourbon pecan pie–it’s delicious and easy to make.
ahhh….we can nearly smell the amazing aromas breezing in the kitchen as this gets made…delicious pie and will certainly not last long at our home…a winner, thanks for sharing 🙂
Thank you for the kind words! I always appreciate you stopping by 🙂
Oh! Those desserts all look sooo good — I wouldn’t know which one to eat first! The Dutch apple pie is particularly mouthwatering. =)
Thank you, Jessamine! It was actually my first time making this apple pie, and it turned out well 🙂 I appreciate you stopping by!
WOW! You are so productive! So many delicious pies in a half day!
How’s your turkey?
Haha, thanks Dan! The turkey came out good, everyone loved it 🙂
This is but a sample of what must have been a fantastic Thanksgiving dinner that you prepared. The desserts all look fantastic but, I must admit, I would have asked for the pecan pie. It’s such a wonderful pie and I’m sure yours was delicious.
Thank you, John! I appreciate your comments 🙂
melt in your mouth and beyond delicious sweet treat….love the bourbon in this traditional recipe…makes it so flavorful and rich, definitely fantastic 🙂
Thank you, it was definitely a flavorful and rich dessert! The bourbon surely added a nice flavor to the pie 🙂
Looks yummy Ada!! 🙂
xx
Thanks Bandhna! Everyone enjoyed the pie 🙂
That’s wonderful.. Always great when people enjoy your food 🙂
xx
B
wow, what a festive pecan pie…
pecan nuts is not that esy to find and quite pricey over here in Indonesia, you just cook it well then!
Thank you! 🙂 I didn’t realize they would be that pricey and hard to find in Indonesia! But then again, I don’t think I’ve ever seen pecans in Taiwan or any Asian stores over here.
This looks awesome! Pecans are a fortune over here in Germany but an American colleague brought a Costco-sized bag with her back from the US so we made pecan pie for Thanksgiving. But it was WAY too sweet! I’m wishing I would have seen this in time!
I hope you had a great Christmas! 🙂
Thank you, Erin! I buy my pecans from Costco as well–they’re affordable and can last awhile 😀 Most pecan pies I’ve had are very sweet, but people who ate mine actually said it was the right amount of sweetness.
I had a fun Christmas, and hope yours was great as well! Thank you for stopping by, I really appreciate it! Happy New Year!
THIS IS ABSOULUTELY SO GORGEOUS ..I LOVE THE PICTURE ..YOU MAKE ME HUNGRY NOW 🙂
Thank you so much! I also get hungry when I think of pecan pie hehe 🙂
my pleasure 🙂
